Neville Longbottom
So I know everyone thinks Harry, Ron, and Hermione are the heroes of JK Rowling’s books, but I think Neville is. Neville is treated as being one step above a squib in the early books and is in the shadows until OoP when suddenly Neville blossoms in the DA to the point where he is capable of a corporeal patronus. In fact given his role in the last book. No one else shows how grit, hard work, and a noble spirit can overcome the world to the point where Neville is able to accomplish the feat he does. I won’t go into more detail so as not to spoil the book. But all in all, Neville shows that despite him having no expectations or necessity to make a stand, he does. This is why Neville is the Hero. Harry is the pre-destined instrument of good. The Weasely’s are ‘blood-traitors through and through” while they are Purebloods and won’t be the initial targets of Lord Voldemort, they will certainly become targets. Hermione is a “mudblood” and already marked for death. Neville, on the other hand, could have skated by and kept his head down but he didn’t.
