bred for the oscars

I saw The Terminal last night, from the opening credits all the way to the last moment of the movie, Speilberg put together the perfect film this is his Citizen Kane. Tom Hanks is brilliant, believable, heartwarming, funny, and sad as Victor. Every charecter, except maybe Catherine Zeta-Jones’, is brilliant and nuanced. Speilberg has another Best Film and Hanks a Best Actor. As for Zeta-Jones, she performed adaquately, but nowhere as brilliant as in Chicago. This film shows that Speilberg has the ability to still direct and not ruin a film with a too sickingly sweet ending. Now if only we can get more films like this. With protaganists you can love and antagonists you learn to not only hate, but pity. A story that makes you want to laugh, then cry, then laugh again. This is a perfect piece of existentialism with all the humour and absurdity that should go along.

Additionally, during the pre-movie advertisment slide show, they played Hold Me Now by The Polyphonic Spree. I was very happy.
