Shrek 2

Last night we saw a sneak preview of Shrek 2, and I have to say it is as good as the first. The humor is more subtley adult, but with the occasional silliness the kept the annoying hordes of children filling the theatre with their laughter. Unfortunately, the times between the silliness left the children bored and causing a ruckus or pretending to laugh when their parents did at subtle cultural references. I enjoyed here a new Eels song and a couple of unique renditions of some old songs, however Dorre, did not find the soundtrack too impressive. During the previews we saw one for the new Stephen Speilberg, Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones film, Terminal. I definately see the Oscar-bred Hanks picking up a best actor for what looks like is a brilliant and funny portrayl of a foreigner who is denied access to the United States but unable to return to his home country due to a civil war that began while he was en route to the US. This will definately be something I will have to see. As much as I may distrust the latter Speilberg works, this looks like a brilliant film that may indeed be worthy of an Oscar.
